Staying active in body, mind and spirit

With a varied weekly calendar of social activities, entertainment, outings, games, creative sessions and therapies, our residents have plenty to keep them busy.

The home’s dedicated activity therapist helps residents choose activities they like. They are always welcome to try something new and all activities are optional – there’s no pressure to join in if a resident prefers to simply relax and enjoy time alone.

Regular outings include visits to Bourne End Garden Centre, Burnham Beeches with tea and coffee in the café, and Day Centre visits to the Freemantle Trust Centre in Bourne End and Flackwell Heath Age Concern Centre.

Our entertainment schedule features a variety of local talent such as vintage 1940s and 1950s singers, dancers, bell ringers from St Mark’s Church and the choir from the local school. We also have weekly visits from one of the Sisters from St Andrews Church.

Residents can pick and choose from daily and weekly activities including:

  • Morning stretches and exercise
  • Manicures
  • Poetry and verse readings
  • Art classes and crafts
  • Creative minds sessions
  • Games including Scrabble, cards and bingo
  • Reminiscence therapy
  • Quizzes
  • Skittles

We also love celebrating at Chilterns. Special events include:

  • Easter
  • Mother’s Day and Father’s Day
  • St George’s Day/ Saints’ Days
  • The Queen’s Birthday
  • Halloween
  • Christmas
